(comprised of $800,000 in compensatory damages and $1,500,000 in punitive damages against Moore Jr. and $250,000 in compensatory damages and $500,000 in punitive damages against Moore Asphalt)
Circuit: Jefferson, 8-28-09, Judge: Tom King, Jr.

After dark on 2-9-06, Christopher Murray was driving southbound on U.S. 31 in Warrior. Next to him in the front passenger seat was his wife, Kristy, and in the back seat were the Murrays’ young son, Cody, and older daughter, Shay. Murray approached a gas station and stopped to wait for northbound traffic to clear before making a left turn into the parking lot. He never completed his left turn. As Murray waited for traffic to clear, a Cadillac Escalade driven by Rayburn Moore Jr. came up behind the Murrays’ Ford Mustang and rear-ended it. It was later alleged that Moore Jr. was drunk at the time, while driving the car on a company errand. The wreck nearly killed the children in the back seat of the Mustang.
